Hello,

I have noticed there is a bug in the KB2880998 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2880998) which was deployed by Microsoft on 12th August  2014. This causes a serious Workflow Manager 1.0 related problem in  SharePoint 2013 server. After you install this package you face an issue:

Method 'StartWorkflowOnListItem' in type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.WorkflowServices.FabricWorkflowInstanceProvider' from assembly 'Microsoft.SharePoint.WorkflowServices, Version=15.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' does not have an implementation.

At first I tried to find the solution according to the error message and the ULS logs. It seems the MS commented some Workflow related rows in one of dlls in KB2880998. (this is just a theory) Then I thought I uninstall the package but I looked for the error message on the internet and found a good article. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/b189e4b8-bb9e-4ade-a3d5-cd2e0f90e93f/workflow-not-working-after-installing-service-pack-1-and-patches?forum=sharepointadmin. According to it I continued the investigation and I decided I install the 2880963 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2880963) patch from May. This is a 72MB package and after the installation the original issue was gone. Furthermore you don’t need to restart the servers and you don’t need to run PSConfig on your SharePoint.

Please send me a feedback or a comment If you meet or met this issue.

Thanks in advance.
