Hi,
I do development for SharePoint (on-premises and to the cloud). I have a question from my new company: Do I need Visual Studio 2015? I just installed Visual Studio 2015 RC and there’s no ‘Office Developer Tools’ and I also can’t find any information when Microsoft will release it. Do you have any information about it? Or it will be better stay with VSTO 2013? Thank you for any feedback
Tomasz
For home development, you can still use the Community edition (which is already RTM) and install developer tools for 2015.
https://www.visualstudio.com/features/office-tools-vs (step 2 -> get developer tools)
I just installed VS Professional 2015 and was looking for the SharePoint tools as well. Turns out you have to install the “Office Developer Tools Project”. After you restart VS you will see a lot of templates show up under
‘Installed –> Office/SharePoint’
Have fun!
I am staying with 2013 for now. I assume 2015 version is not out yet because it will include stuff in support of SP 2016. We may not see a release for a while.
