We all love it when we find a hidden gem that makes our life easier! After looking for inspiration for my next short video, I came across this tool.

Inside the Power Apps Studio, next to the formula bar you’ll see the small FX icon. Did you know you can click on this to open a whole new formula window that might help you find exactly what you are looking for?

How to use the Quick Access Formula Tool

After expanding the Quick Access Formula button you’ll see 2 boxes. The first box shows a list of categories relating to formula you may want to use. This will include things like Text, Date & Time and Number. By selecting any of the categories, the box below will filter out every out of the box formula you can use in relation to the category selected. This is really useful when you want to find or use something specific to your use case.

For example, I can select Date & Time to show me a list of formulas relating to dates and times, such as DateDiff, which will return a number (in the unit I specify) to result in a date between and start and a finish date. I can select DateDiff and automatically add it to my formula bar by double clicking on the formula action I want to use. A hidden menu, that I didn’t want you to miss out on. Do you use the Quick Access Formula toolbar? Do you find it useful?
