How to Make Power Platform TikTok Videos Worth Watching

Create accurate, useful Power Platform TikTok videos with safe demos, original footage, clear boundaries and evidence-led iteration.

A Power Platform TikTok channel is useful when each post solves one small problem without hiding the prerequisites. Short video is good for a formula fix, interface pointer or before-and-after demonstration. It is poor at carrying a complete governance, licensing or security decision on its own.

No checklist can promise a “successful” channel. TikTok distribution and audience response are outside your control. You can control accuracy, safety, originality and whether the viewer gets a usable next step.

Pick the account and ownership model

TikTok supports Personal, Business and Organisation accounts, with different features and intended uses. Review the current account-type documentation before choosing.

Use a business-controlled email address, strong authentication and a recovery owner. Agree who may publish, reply, delete content and access analytics. Do not build an employer's channel around one developer's personal login.

Turn one problem into one post

Useful short-form topics include:

  • why a Power Apps formula returns blank;
  • where to inspect a failed Power Automate run;
  • what a connection reference changes;
  • why a managed solution behaves differently in production;
  • one accessibility check before publishing an app.

Avoid broad claims such as “build an app in 30 seconds”. A fast edit can show the middle of a process while hiding setup, permissions, data preparation and testing.

Fact-check before recording

For Microsoft product behaviour, start with Microsoft Learn and current release documentation. Record the tenant, environment, role and licence used when they matter.

Check the steps in a clean test environment. If you could not reproduce a behaviour, say so or choose another topic. Do not turn an AI-generated script into a tutorial without verifying every product claim.

Protect the tenant on screen

Use fabricated records and a non-production environment. Before recording, remove or obscure:

  • email addresses and profile photos;
  • tenant and environment names;
  • customer records and file names;
  • browser history, bookmarks and notifications;
  • connection details, tokens and API keys;
  • IDs that can reveal private resources.

Cropping after the event is less reliable than keeping sensitive data out of the recording in the first place.

Use a repeatable 30 to 90 second structure

Problem: Name the exact symptom in the first sentence.

Boundary: Mention the product, prerequisite or limitation that changes the answer.

Action: Show the smallest safe fix at a readable speed.

Proof: Run the formula, flow or app and show the observable result.

Next check: Tell the viewer what to inspect if their result differs.

This duration is an editorial pattern, not a promise that every subject fits. Split a complex topic or send viewers to a full, sourced guide.

Publish accessibly and responsibly

Add accurate captions and keep important text inside the visible safe area. Describe the outcome rather than relying on a cursor alone.

Use footage, code, images and sounds you have the right to publish. TikTok Studio includes content-management, analytics and copyright-checking tools, but an automated check is not legal clearance.

If AI created or materially altered media, review TikTok's current labelling rules. Do not imitate a real person or manufacture a product result.

Improve from evidence

TikTok Studio provides account, content, viewer and follower analytics, subject to account and regional availability. Use them to compare topics and identify where viewers leave.

Comments are useful for finding missing prerequisites, but they are not product documentation. Verify a suggested correction before changing the post.

Keep a simple content register with the source, recorded date and review date. Remove or correct a post when the Microsoft interface or product rule changes.

What a good post proves

A recorded test can prove that one scenario worked in the demonstrated environment at that time. It cannot prove the fix works in every tenant, meets an organisation's policy or includes the licence a viewer owns.
