Part 1: Join the Microsoft 365 Developer Program
Step 1: Go directly to the Developer Program – Microsoft 365 page.
Step 2: Look at the upper-right corner. Click Sign in and authenticate using your standard Microsoft account or Azure Active Directory email.
Step 3: Click Join now. Fill out your country, company name, and language preference. Read the terms and conditions, then check the box to accept them.
Step 4: The setup wizard will ask how you want to build. Choose the Instant Sandbox. This pre-configures everything you need and provisions your environment in seconds. Click Next.
Step 5: Tell Microsoft what you care about. Select your specific industry. Pick the applications you want to build and the programming languages you actually use.
Step 6: Click Join. The system will load your preferences and display a welcome message in the top right corner.
Part 2: Set up your Microsoft 365 Subscription
Step 7: A dialog box will prompt you to set up your developer subscription. Create a username and a unique domain. Do not use spaces. This becomes your global administrator account.
Step 8: Type in a strong password and confirm it.
Step 9: Click Set up. You will likely need to pass a captcha to prove you are human. Complete that step and click Verify. The system will generate your profile page with your new subscription name and expiration date.
Step 10: Click Go to subscription. You are now standing inside your brand new Microsoft 365 Tenant.
